
Hodge Named ECHL Player of the Week

WHEELING, WV...... The ECHL hockey league announced today that Wheeling Nailer forward Brendon Hodge has been named the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for the period ending November 6, 2005. In three games, Hodge compiled 7 points to help the Nailers to there best start in team history. Hodge collected 4 goals and 3 assists as the Nailers finished there second straight weekend with a 3 game sweep. Wheeling, currently riding a 6-game winning streak, is 6-1-0 and in first place in the Northern Division. Hodge began the week with a goal and two assists in a 6-4 victory over Toledo on Friday night. In Saturday's match up with the Chiefs, Hodge recorded the first hat trick of the season in a 4-2 triumph, and he followed that up with an assist a day later, in a 7-3 win over Victoria at WesBanco Arena
A native of Lynnfield, Mass., the 27-year-old Hodge has 4 goals and 4 assists for 8 points. The son of former NHL great, Ken, Hodge is in his third year in Wheeling after an All-American career at SUNY-Plattsburgh. He has logged 144 games and recorded 98 points in the Friendly City.
On behalf of Brendon Hodge, a case of pucks will be donated to a Wheeling area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier for the ECHL.
The Nailers return home on Sunday to take on the Johnstown Chiefs. Sunday's 3pm face-off will be Comcast's Blades for Grades and Sunday Family Funday where kids who bring there own skates and gloves will be able to skate with the Nailers after the game.
