
Hitting Star Kirsch Joins Beach Bums

WUERFEL PARK - The Traverse City Beach Bums are excited to announce the signing of 2014 All-Big 12 Conference First Teamer Adam Kirsch. An outfielder, Kirsch is coming off a decorated senior season with Texas Tech that helped the Red Raiders reach the College World Series.
"When you look at Kirsch's numbers it's obvious why he's an intriguing player. He can hit for average and power but also knows how to draw a walk" said Beach Bums' Director of Baseball Operations Jason Wuerfel. "He also helps balance out our lineup which was starting to get left-handed heavy over the course of the off-season. I'm excited to see what he can do because I think he could surprise a lot of people with his offensive ability in the Frontier League."
Playing his senior season at Texas Tech, Kirsch was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and to the All-Conference team by the league's coaches. He is just the second Texas Tech player ever to be named as the Newcomer of the Year. Splitting time in right field and as a designated hitter, Kirsch started 65 games batting .307, 10 homers and 51 RBI. He finished tied for the league lead in doubles with 21. During the NCAA Tournament, he led the team with a .360 average including going 4-for-8 at the College World Series.
Following graduation, he signed a free agent contract with the New York Yankees and played five games with their Gulf Coast League affiliate. In 2014.
Before Texas Tech, the 24 year old played one season at Florida International University in 2012. He was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference second team. He started his college career at North Central Texas College and named an Honorable Mention NJCAA All-American.
A native of Spring, TX his proud parents are Stanley and Jolene. He has a brother, Bryan and sister, Vanessa. He was a University Studies major at Texas Tech.
The 10th season of Beach Bums baseball begins Friday May 15 at Evansville at 6:35pm with the home opener scheduled for Friday May 22nd vs. Windy City at 7:05pm.
All games will be broadcast live on 98.1 The Bear.
The Wuerfel Park offices are open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. The Beach Bums will play 51 games at Wuerfel Park in 2015 starting with the home opener and a FANtastic Fireworks Friday on May 22 at 7:05 pm. Season ticket packages are now available!
