
Wild Things Agree to Contract Terms with Former Minor League Prospects

Washington, PA-The Washington Wild Things announced they have signed former Tampa Bay Rays draftee Christian Knott to a contract for the 2015 season. The outfielder was selected by the Rays in the 34th round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of East Stroudsburg University.
The Somers Point, NJ native competed with Tampa Bay's Gulf Coast League team, the GCL Rays in 2014. With the Rays, Knott saw action in 39 games and produced a .248 batting average with nine doubles, four triples and 15 RBI.
Prior to his professional career, Knott enjoyed an outstanding four-year career at East Stroudsburg. After a spectacular senior season where he broke numerous school records, Knott became the school's first-ever Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Player of the Year. Additionally, he was the program's first Region Player of the Year since Joel Bennett in 1991.
During his four years as a Warrior, he had a career .345 batting average and a career .443 on-base percentage. His career .568 slugging percentage is the best by a four-year player in school history.
He set seven East Stroudsburg career records and finishes in the top five in five other categories. Knott holds records for doubles (46), triples (16), home runs (19), extra-base hits (81), total bases (344), RBI (146) and games played (149). He also ranks third in hits (209), runs (142), and stolen bases (57) and is tied for fourth with 88 walks and is second all-time with 29 HBP.
As a senior in 2014, Knott batted .399 with a .484 on-base percentage and .667 slugging percentage in 45 games. During the regular season, he led the PSAC in slugging, extra-base hits (25), total bases (102), RBI (44), and runs (46) in the regular season. At the plate, he was 61-for-153 with 15 doubles, four triples, six home runs, 21 walks and seven hit-by-pitches while swiping 14 bases.
Knott took home several honors his senior season including; Daktronics and ABCA All-America 2nd team selection, NCBWA honorable-mention All-American, Tino Martinez Award Semifinalist, ABCA Atlantic Region "Gold Glove" recipient, ESU co-Men's Senior Athlete of the Year and shared the baseball program's annual MVP award.
