High Point-Thomasville HiToms News Release
Lexington, SC - For the second night in a row, the High Point - Thomasville HiToms (26-28) rally late in the game to claim a crucial CPL Western Division victory as HPT outlasts the Lexington County Blowfish 4-3.
Knotting the game at two in the top of the 8th on a Nicky Lopez sacrifice fly, the HiToms forged ahead in the final frame as Peter Johnson doubled to lead off the inning and scored on an error by Blowfish reliever Trevor Bradley on Glen Batson's sacrifice bunt.
In his second start of the season, Chris Martin shined again as the right-hander from Kent State allowed just two runs on seven hits.
David Sheaffer paced the HiToms at the plate going 2-4, with two runs scored and a fifth inning, solo home run. Former Post 87 HiTom Ryan Kahny picked up his first win of the season in relief and Chayse Gulzow collected his fourth save.
HPT returns to Finch Field Sunday evening at 5 pm as the Asheboro Copperheads visit.
