Calgary Hitmen News Release
Calgary, AB - The Tri-City Americans returned to the Scotiabank Saddledome for the first time since 2019 this afternoon. Down 4-3 with under two minutes left in regulation, the Calgary Hitmen scored three unanswered goals to come back to win 6-4.
Ethan Moore had another standout performance with two goals including the game winner, extending his point streak to eleven straight games.
The first period ended in a deadlock with David Adaszynski and former Hitmen Carter MacAdams exchanging power play goals to tie the game at one. Calgary's power play would come through once again in the second period, with Ethan Moore picking the top right corner scoring his first of the game. Tri-City had an answer with Lukas Dragicevic returning the favour, tying it up heading into the final frame.
Tri-City would take their first lead of the game courtesy of Jake Sloan just under a minute into the third making it 3-2. A timely goal from Fraser Leonard for his third of the season, tied the game up entering into the final ten minutes. The next one would come from Tri-City's Jordan Gavin, who restored the lead with five minutes left to play.
With under two minutes to go in regulation, Calgary pulled Ethan Buenaventura for the sixth man. A slap shot from the point from Carter Yakemchuk with just a minute and a half left, tied the game 4-4. The game winner for Calgary would come thirty seconds later with Ethan Moore's second of the game. An insurance empty net from Keets Fawcet would secure the victory for Calgary.
With this win, Calgary extends their win streak to four games with points in their last six. They now sit with a record of 17-17-5-1 improving to .500 on the season. Calgary is one point out of the last playoff spot behind Prince Albert with two games in hand.
Calgary's season high seven-game homestand continues next weekend as they get set to welcome a pair of Saskatchewan teams. The Eastern Conference leading Saskatoon Blades will be in the Scotiabank Saddledome on Friday, Jan. 19 for a 7:00 p.m. start followed by a Sunday, Jan. 21 visit from the Prince Albert Raiders at 2:00 p.m.
