Rome Emperors News Release
Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Asheville Tourists 9-1 Wednesday afternoon at State Mutual Stadium before a crowd of 1,175. The Braves bats continue to be hot and enjoyed a 15 hit attack. Rome has had 36 hits over the last two games with Asheville.
The Braves jumped on the board with three runs in the first inning highlighted by William Contreras' RBI double, and run scoring singles by Jean Carlos Encarnacion and Drew Lugbauer for the 3-0 score. The hit parade continued in the second as two more runs crossed the plate thanks to a single to score a run by Drew Waters and an RBI groundout by Riley Delgado giving Rome a 5-0 lead. Turns out that's all they would need as the Braves added insurance runs in the fifth and eighth innings to get the 9-1 victory.
Rome starter Huascar Ynoa (2-6) picks up the win going six shutout innings allowing four hits while striking out nine. Asheville's Nick Kennedy (0-7) gets the loss.
The Braves and Tourists play again Thursday at 7 p.m. For information contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
