
Hisky Knocks in Four Runs to Take League RBI Lead in 13-6 Win

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - Hunter Hisky batted in four runs to take the first place on the Pioneer League RBI leaderboard, helping the Idaho Falls Chukars (11-3) defeat the Rocky Mountain Vibes (1-13) 13-6 on Thursday night at UC Health Park. The victory over the Vibes is the Chukars fourth straight victory, and their third straight win over the Vibes.
Facing starter Felipe Rodriguez (L, 0-3), Hisky drove in his first run of the night, scoring Steve Barmakian from second base on a single to give the Chukars an early lead, 1-0.
The Vibes countered to take their first lead over the Chukars in the series. Four errors were committed by the Chukars defense, and the Vibes brought home five runs against Jake Binder. Gio Diaz and Domonique Herandez doubled, Dalys Binder brought in a run on a sac fly, and back-to-back RBI singles from Miguel Tejada Jr and Caleb Marquez, giving the Vibes a 5-1 lead. Binder managed the final two outs of the inning on a strikeout and when Brady West caught Joshua Esparza stealing.
Rick Phillips cut into the lead with an RBI single to score Andrew Don, making it 5-2.
The Chukars took their second lead of the night in the third, putting up a four-spot. Hisky connected for his second single of the night to lead off the inning. West crushed a two-run homer into right center, cutting the deficit to one, 5-4. Dusty Stroup followed up the home run with a double, and advanced to third on a single from Sam Troyer. Don tied the game 5-5 on an RBI single, and Eric Callahan gave the Chukars the lead back on a sac fly that scored Troyer, 6-5.
Rocky Mountain however, tied it up a third time in the bottom half, when Marquez grounded out to Hisky, scoring Binder to make it 6-6.
Idaho Falls countered to take the lead back on a three-run fourth inning. The bases were loaded on three walks drawn by Matt Feinstein, Hisky, and West. Stroup batted in Feinstein on a sac fly to give the Chukars their third lead of the game, 7-6. Troyer singled for the second time to drive in a run, and Callahan doubled to score West and hand the Chukars a 9-6 lead.
Three more runs came across in the fifth on a two-run triple from Hisky, and a wild pitch from Yohandry Perez that scored Hisky from third, capping the scoring 13-6.
Nate Jenkins (W, 2-0) took over for Binder with two outs in the fourth. The right-hander from Concord, CA tossed three innings and two thirds, allowed no runs and one hit, and punched out 3.
Alex Fishberg and Jonathan Nunnally Jr. tossed the final two innings, closing the game for the Chukars.
The series continues tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. MDT. Idaho Falls will start LHP Sam Kornstad (2-0, 3.75 ERA) and the Vibes' starter is TBD.
