Brandon Wheat Kings News Release

Brandon, MB. - The Brandon Wheat Kings' pre-season roster has been reduced to 28 players.

Wheat Kings' General Manager and Head Coach Kelly McCrimmon has announced that 16-year old defenceman Dane Hirst has been designated for reassignment.

A 6' 187 lb Lac du Bonnet product, Hirst was a ninth round draft choice of the Wheat Kings in the 2014 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

In 42 games with the Eastman AAA Midget Selects in 2014-15, Hirst had two goals and 11 points.

Hirst's departure leaves the Wheat Kings with seven defenceman, 18 forwards and three goalkeepers following a 2-game weekend series with Regina that saw Brandon score back to back victories over the Pats. Among those are 15-year old prospects Caiden Daley, Rylan Bettens and Garrett Sambrook.

Brandon will close out its pre-season schedule this coming weekend against the Moose Jaw Warriors, before bring the curtain up on their 2015-16 regular season on Friday, September 25th against the visiting Swift Current Broncos.

Tickets to the Home Opener are now on sale at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at keystonecentre.com.
