Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
Lookouts outfielder Rece Hinds drove in all three Lookouts runs in their 3-1 win over the Rocket City Trash Pandas.
Hinds picked off right where he left off, and belted a two-run home run to give the Lookouts the early 2-0 lead. The former second-round pick has now hit a home run in five straight games, which is the longest streak in all of Minor League Baseball. During this stretch over his last five games, Hinds is 11-for-19 (.579) with six homers, 11 RBIs, and three walks.
In the fifth, Hinds drove in another run, this time on a sacrifice fly to bring home Francisco Urbaez. The second baseman finished the night 3-for-3 with a run and brought his average up to .275. Up 3-0 heading into the sixth starting pitcher Christian Roa left the game. Roa struck out eight batters in five innings of work. Over his last two starts, he is 2-0 with 15 strikeouts in 11 shutout innings.
Rocket City managed to get their first run in the seventh inning on an Aaron Whitefield solo home run. The Trash Pandas threatened in the eighth and the ninth, but Ryan Meisinger shut the door for his sixth save of the season.
With the win, Chattanooga is tied with the Tennessee Smokies, who will play a doubleheader tomorrow, for the North Division lead with eight games to go in the first half.
On Saturday, Lyon Richardson will be on the mound for the Lookouts aiming for his first win of the year. Game time for Used Car Saturday presented by TVFCU is at 7:15 p.m.
