Nashville Kats News Release

NASHVILLE (May 10, 2005) – Nashville Kats wide receiver/defensive back Jarrick Hillery has been selected as the U.S. Army Ironman of the Week for the Arena Football League's week 15.

Hillery, a sixth-year veteran from Tennessee State, truly had one of the best all-around performances of the season in leading the Kats to a 54-33 win over Grand Rapids last week. He caught four passes for 47 yards and two touchdowns, and he ran the ball three times for 19 yards and two more scores. He also picked off two passes, had a 36-yard missed field goal return and an 18-yard kickoff return in the win.

The outstanding performance is the just the latest for a player that has made a name for himself as one of the top all-around stars in the league over the last six years. Since coming back from a hamstring injury that kept him sidelined for six games earlier this season, Hillery has been a standout in every game, helping to lead the Kats on a six-game unbeaten streak that stands as the league's longest. He was also named Ironman of the game on April 17 against L.A. after taking back two kickoffs for TD's and racking up four kick returns for 169 yards in his first game back. He scored on an eight-yard TD run in the win over Tampa three weeks ago, and he ran the ball twice for 15 yards, caught three passes for 23 yards and a TD and had two kick returns for 51 yards in an upset of San Jose two weeks ago.

Hillery's Ironman of the Week honor comes on the heels of Nashville defensive specialist Kahlil Carter's ADT Defensive Player of the Week award last week. The Kats are unbeaten in their last six games and are still in the hunt for a playoff berth. Nashville plays at Colorado on Friday at 8 p.m.
