THE HILLCATS:

Lynchburg topped Frederick again 6-1 in game two last night at Harry Grove Stadium...The win moves the Hillcats to a season-high 17 games over .500 and they still have a five-game lead for first place in the Northern Division and the best record in the league...Tonight is the final game of a three-game series at Frederick and the third contest of a seven-game road trip...

VS. FREDERICK:

Lynchburg took two out of three from Frederick when they met earlier this season at City Stadium and split four-game series two weeks ago in Frederick...With their two wins to start this series they are now 6-3 against the Keys and 4-2 in Maryland...Last season the Keys won the season series against the Cats 12-7 and went 6-4 at home...Lynchburg though holds the all-time advantage 148-132 and they are 72-68 at Harry Grove Stadium...

MAGIC NUMBER:

The win last night for Lynchburg shrunk their magic number to clinch the Northern Division to 16...They lead the division by five games with 19 games left to play...

DEJA VU ALL OVER AGAIN:

The Hillcats are back in Frederick just 10 days after they were last here...The Cats are in the midst of playing 23 of 26 against the North that includes ten games against the Keys...Those ten games are over a 25 day period...This series is the second of four series in a row (13 games) against Northern Division foes...

SERIES STREAK:

The Cats secured a series victory over the Keys last night and have now gone nine series in a row without dropping a set...They are 8-0-1 over that stretch...They have not lost a series since May 1st-3rd when they dropped two out of three at home to Kinston...They are now 12-2-2 in their series this season...

ARM STRONG:

The pitching staff for Lynchburg is posting an earned run average of 1.38 in their last eight games...They have won seven of those contests and the staff has lowered their ERA to 3.84 which is now tops in the Carolina League...The team ERA in May was 3.37...

SPELLING RELIEF:

Over the last ten games the Hillcats bullpen is 1-0 with a 0.59 ERA (two earned runs in 32 and 2/3 innings) with six holds and five saves in five chances...Lynchburg is 8-2 in those contests...On the season they are 15-4 with a 3.24 earned run average with 18 holds and 18 saves...

McTASTIC:

RHP Matt McSwain worked six and 1/3 innings last night and allowed just one run in earning his sixth straight win...It was his fifth straight quality start and over that stretch he is 5-0 with a 1.09 ERA...He is now tied for second in the league in wins (six) and is tied for third in innings pitched (59 and 2/3)...

DEFENSIVE DE LOS:

Last night INF Jose De Los Santos played his seventh straight error less game and he has committed just one error in his last 14 games and only three in 34 games this season...Last year he committed 28 errors in 114 contests...On July 31st of last year, he played second base for the first time in his professional career (a shortstop prior) and he has played their every game this season...He has a .985 fielding percentage and the Hillcats are second in the CL with .975 percentage and they are yet to commit an error in this series in Frederick...

DURHAM DIALED IN:

UTIL Miles Durham extended his current hitting streak to 11 games last night, his longest of the season...Over that time he is 16-for-46 (.348) with three doubles, two home runs, seven RBI and ten runs scored...His two home runs on the previous homestand both proved to be game winners...Since his average dipped to .238 on May 2nd, Durham has hit .340 (37-for-109) with eight doubles, six home runs, 21 RBI and 22 runs scored in 27 games played to raise his average to .295...He is batting .353 with men in scoring position as well this season...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER:

LHP Nate Nery was selected in the 18th round of the 2006 amateur entry draft by the Orioles out of Stetson University...His junior and final season with the Hatters he went 7-5 with a 4.53 ERA in 26 games (12 starts)...That same year he made his professional debut with short season Low-A Aberdeen and posted 3-4 record with a 5.17 earned run average with 14 games (nine starts)...He returned to the IronBirds in 2007 and went 5-4 mark with a 4.08 ERA in 22 games (eight starts)...Last season he advanced to full season Low-A and had a 7-3 record with a 3.39 ERA with Delmarva...He was again with the Shorebirds to start this season and was 3-0 with a 1.17 ERA in five games (four starts) before getting the call-up to Frederick...Since his promotion the lefty has gone 0-2 with a 4.02 earned run average in five starts...Nery started against Lynchburg on May 18th in Frederick and went six innings, allowed five runs (two earned) and took a no-decision in a game the Hillcats won 13-9 in 11 innings...
