Game Highlights
Quarter 1: Highlanders 17, Titans 29
The Highlanders were without Chris Johnson and Charles "Jay-R" Strowbridge played in his second game with Cape Breton. It was a low-scoring game for the Highlanders in the opening minutes, but they were able to keep it close with good defensive plays. The Titans went on a 10-point run to take the lead midway through the 1st quarter. The Highlanders continued to struggle offensively as the Titans led by 12 at the end of the quarter.
Quarter 2: Highlanders 46, Titans 59
The Highlanders responded early in the 2nd quarter to cut the deficit in half. The Titans regained their momentum and continued to find points. Bruce Massey was forced to leave the court due to injury, and the Highlanders found themselves in foul trouble midway through the quarter. The Titans played consistently and maintained their lead throughout the first half, leading by 13 at the buzzer.
Quarter 3: Highlanders 80, Titans 85
Bruce Massey returned for the 3rd quarter, and the Highlanders went on a 9-point run in the first two minutes to bring the score within 4. The Titans refused to give up the lead and were able to keep the Highlanders at bay midway through the quarter. The Highlanders could not maintain their scoring while the Titans continued to shoot well from the field and beyond the arc. Another late scoring push by the Highlanders allowed them to trail by only 5 heading into the final frame.
Quarter 4: Highlanders 91, Titans 101
Neither team was able to score early in the quarter, as both were playing effective defense. The Highlanders were finally able to get stops against the strong shooting of the Titans and brought the score within 2 halfway through the quarter. However, the Titans took over once again as the Highlanders fell into foul trouble and cold shooting. Massey fouled out of the game with a few minutes remaining, making a final offensive push too difficult with the Highlanders shooting only 34% from the field. The Titans took the win.
