Game Highlights

The Highlanders were without Deshaunt Walker on their third game of a four-game road trip through Ontario.

Quarter 1: Highlanders 24, Five 26

Both teams started well, trading baskets. The Highlanders took the lead for some of the quarter until cold shooting by Cape Breton and back-to back 3s by the Five gave Sudbury the lead. The teams continued to trade baskets, finishing the quarter with the Five up by 2.

Quarter 2: Highlanders 58, Five 52

Both teams started cold, but then the Highlanders started drawing fouls to take a 9-point lead early in the quarter. 3-point shooting by the Five brought them back within 4, until Bruce Massey hit back-to-back 3s to move the Highlanders back up by 9. A 7-point run by the Five quickly cut the lead to 4 and the Highlanders ended the quarter up 6. Massey had 19 points and 7 rebounds in the first half.

Quarter 3: Highlanders 87, Five 86

To open the second half, the Five tightened up their defense and Braylon Rayson's shooting helped the Five take a 5-point lead. Bruce Massey kept hitting shots for the Highlanders and the teams traded leads for the rest of the quarter, ending the period with the Highlanders up by 1.

Quarter 4: Highlanders 121, Five 116

The final quarter opened with the teams trading baskets. The Highlanders maintained a lead of a few points, until Chris Johnson hit shots to extend the lead to 6 with four minutes remaining. The lead dropped to 1 with two minutes to go. At the 47-second mark, the Highlanders extended the lead to 3 with good free-throw shooting. Reliable in-bounding and free-throw shooting carried the Highlanders to a 5-point win and another 40+ point game for Bruce Massey.
