March 21, 2023 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
St. Louis City SC News Release
ST. LOUIS - St. Louis CITY SC defender Kyle Hiebert was named to the Canadian Men's National Team Final roster, the Canadian Federation announced today. Hiebert will join Canada for the upcoming Concacaf Nations League matches against Curaçao (March 25) and Honduras (March 28) in the month of March. The two-match series doubles as an opportunity to reach the 2022-23 Concacaf Nations League Final as well as a qualification route to this summer's 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup.
Hiebert will head down to Florida to meet the team for camp today and will miss St. Louis's road match at Real Salt Lake on Saturday, March 25. Canada (1W-0D-1L) have two matches remaining in their League A Group C schedule while their opponents Curaçao (1-0-2) and first-place Honduras (2-0-1) have one match left each. The Manitoba, Canada, native is one of seven MLS players on the 23-man roster.
For country, Hiebert will be making his first appearance with the Canadian Men's National team senior camp. Prior to his call up, he made three appearances for Under-18 Canadian MNT.
Following a standout season in MLS NEXT Pro, Hiebert received an MLS contract and has started and played all 90 minutes CITY SC's first four MLS matches. He has helped anchor CITY SC's backline to four consecutive wins and have held the opposition to just 10 shots on goal in four games, which is tied for fourth in MLS. Hiebert led CITY SC's backline to its first ever clean sheet last Saturday against San Jose.
