Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
KANNAPOLIS, N.C.- The Intimidators scored first, but allowed multiple runs in four consecutive innings and fell to the Hickory Crawdads, 15-6, in the second game of a four-game set on Friday at Intimidators stadium supported by Carolinas HealthCare System. Kannapolis (7-9) saw it's season-best 4-game winning streak come to an end with the loss.
Kannapolis took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on an unearned run as Joel Booker led off by reaching on a throwing error by the second basemen, and eventually scoring on a groundball ball double play by Jameson Fisher. However that was the only lead the Intimidators would hold all night long.
The Crawdads scored two runs in the second inning, two in the third, three in the fourth and five in the fifth, via four homeruns, including back-to-back jacks by Anderson Tejeda and Franklin Rollin in the fifth inning, to take a 12-2 lead. The homerun was Rollin's second of the game.
Kannapolis did not aid its own cause or its starting pitcher Yosmer Solorzano (1-2, 3.94 ERA) as the defense committed four errors, and Solorzano took the loss allowing five earned runs in 4.0 innings of work, while walking two and striking out four. In relief, Kyle Kubat threw successfully for the Intimidators striking out seven batters in 2.2 innings pitched.
Emerson Martinez (2-1, 1.69 ERA) picked up the win for Hickory tossing 6.0 innings and allowing two runs on four hits.
Kannapolis added one in third against Martinez on a Max Dutto solo homerun, his first of the season, and tacked on four more against the pen in the bottom of the ninth highlighted by the third hit of the night by Zach Remillard.
Kannapolis continues its four-game series against Hickory on Saturday as RHP Alec Hansen (1-1, 3.68 ERA) takes the mound against the Crawdads' RHP Edgar Arredondo (0-2, 9.95 ERA) at 7:05 p.m. Gates open Saturday at 6:00 p.m. as the Intimidators host a Jurassic Ballpark as fans can observer and interact with some of the most amazing dinosaurs since the Crustaceous period.
The dinosaurs from Dakota and Friends will be on hand at the main entrance for children of all ages to get an up-close look at these prehistoric pets. Also on Saturday, we will light up the sky with post-game rock n' roll fireworks. Tickets are available by calling the F&M Bank Box Office at 704-932-3267 or by visiting IntimidatorsBaseball.com.
