Hernandez Pitches Frogs To Victory, 3-1

Everett AquaSox News Release

Everett, WA - Everett starter Carlos Hernandez pitched six innings Friday, allowing only one run off two hits. The win placed Everett back into a tie for first place in the Northwest League North.

Hernandez found himself in a tricky situation to start the ballgame, Friday, as he allowed a double off the right-field fence and hit two volcanos to load the bases. David Villar stepped up to the plate and hit a grounder to third. Everett third baseman Nick Rodriguez choose to get the easy out at third base and a run would score for Salem-Keizer. Another out one batter later would end the inning.

Hernandez quickly turned his performance around, however. The six-foot-three right-hander wouldn't allow a run for the remainder of his outing and would come out in the sixth inning.

With Hernandez taking care of business on the mound, it was up to Everett's bats to seal the game. They would not disappoint. Starting in the bottom of the third the AquaSox would score in three straight innings.

The top of the third saw Charlie McConnell bat in Nick Rodriguez on a single to tie the game. With two outs on the board and the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth, Connor Kopach drew a walk to put the frogs up, 2-1. The bottom fifth would bring Ryan Garcia's second home run of the year over the center field fence. The combined offensive and defensive effort would result in an Everett victory, 3-1.

Saturday the Frogs will play the fourth game against Salem-Keizer as the AquaSox will dawn their pink hats for Pink at the Park. We will also be giving away 9 Flat Screen TVs over the course of the game.
