
Herd Suffers Loss to Squadron

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost to the Birmingham Squadron 125-107.
Wenyen Gabriel powered the Herd with 23 points while Stevie Thompson Jr. added a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Milwaukee Bucks assignment player Chris Livingston posted 16 points.
The Birmingham Squadron's top scorer was Landers Nolley II with 25 points followed by Malcolm Hill with 22 points.
Glenn Robinson III started the game by converting beyond the arc to give the Herd the first lead, but the Squadron was quick to answer with back-to-back shots. Wisconsin countered with an 11-3 run to go up by eight. The teams traded baskets, but Birmingham slowly crept closer to the Herd, making it a one-point game at the three-minute mark. The Squadron eventually pulled ahead with a free throw. Wisconsin took the lead once more before Birmingham hit two three-pointers to take a 31-29 edge at the end of the first quarter.
Birmingham scored eight straight points to take a double-digit lead early in the second quarter. Wisconsin battled back to come within four but consecutive three-pointers by the Squadron propelled them forward. The Herd responded with three baskets to cut the Squadron's advantage to two. The teams went back and forth but Birmingham hit eight unanswered points to go ahead 62-53 at the break. Wenyen Gabriel guided the Herd with 15 points in the first half.
The Squadron hit the first points of the third quarter, but the Herd went on to answer every basket keeping them within 12. Wisconsin went 7-0 to cut Birmingham's head start to seven. The Squadron quickly built back their double-digit lead going ahead 80-70 at the six-minute mark. Chris Livingston powered the Herd with consecutive baskets with two minutes remaining in the quarter. The Squadron held on to lead 102-84 at the end of the third quarter.
Drew Timme got the fourth quarter started with a layup bringing the Herd within 16. The Squadron knocked down two baskets before Wisconsin converted on eight consecutive points. Birmingham continued to push ahead moving to a 20-point lead with three minutes remaining. Stevie Thompson Jr. scored six points to close out the game. The Birmingham Squadron beat the Wisconsin Herd 125-107.
The Herd will take on the Birmingham Squadron again at home on Wednesday, January 24 with tip-off set for 6:00 p.m. CST.
