Hens close season with fourth straight win

(Toledo, OH) - The Toledo Mud Hens played the final game of the 2010 season on Monday at Fifth Third Field against the Columbus Clippers. The Hens won the game by a score of 5-2.

Toledo finished the season with a record of 70-73 and won 14 of their final 22 games.

LHP Ryan Ketchner (6-5) made the final start of the season and pitched well, tossing 7.0 innings, allowing just three hits and striking out six.

Toledo struck first with a two-run home run from Robinzon Diaz in the 2nd inning. For Diaz, it was his first home run of the year.

Columbus tied it up in the top of the 3rd inning on the first home run of the year from Ezequiel Carrera.

Toledo took the lead back in the 4th with an RBI single from Shawn Roof scoring Max Leon.

The Hens would increase their lead to 4-2 in the 7th frame as Justin Henry walked and was brought home on a double by Cale Iorg.

That lead would grow to 5-2 with a Michael Bertram sac fly also in the 7th inning.

Fu-Te Ni and Brendan Wise held the lead for the Hens over the final two innings to secure the win for the Hens.

-Game time temperature was 70 degrees

-Attendance on Monday was 8,327

-Final attendance for the 2010 season was 558,059 (5th highest total in the nine-year history of Fifth Third Field)

-The Hens home opener for 2011 will be Thursday, April 14 at 4:00 pm (doubleheader)

-Toledo finished the year with a 14-8 record against Columbus and 32-32 against the IL West.
