
Chiefs Close Season with 4-3 Loss

Pawtucket, RI - The Syracuse Chiefs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, lost to the Pawtucket Red Sox 4-3 on the final day of the 2010 season. Erik Arnesen pitched a complete game for Syracuse but took the loss. Both Pete Orr and Jamie Burke delivered home runs for the Chiefs.
Pawtucket (66-78) tapped Arnesen for three of its four runs in the second inning. Jorge Jiminez walked with one out, and just two batters later first year player James Kang doubled to knocked in Jiminez and make it 1-0 in favor of the PawSox. In the next at bat, Josh Reddick hit a line drive two-run home run over the wall in right field to make it 3-0.
The PawSox scored again in the fourth after a leadoff triple from Jiminez. Gil Velazquez knocked him in with a double to left to increase the lead to 4-0.
Syracuse (76-67) scored for the first time on an Orr home run in the fifth inning. He homered to lead off and then two batters later Jamie Burke hit his first home run of the year to cut the lead to 4-2. In the sixth, Seth Bynum scored Brian Bixler with an RBI groundout after the shortstop had walked to lead off the inning.
Neither team scored for the rest of the game with the Chiefs only garnering one baserunner over the last three innings against the PawSox bullpen.
The Chiefs finish the season at 76-67 and the PawSox close at 66-78. Syracuse finishes 2010 with a winning percentage higher than it did in 2009. The next game the Chiefs will play will be on April 7th, 2011 at Buffalo.
