Help "Reset the Curse" on April 16
March 10, 2005 - Eastern League (EL1)
Trenton Thunder News Release
You can help the Thunder try to return the World Series Champion Boston Red Sox to their historically "cursed" ways with "Reset the Curse Day" at Waterfront Park on April 16th, when the Portland Sea Dogs, Double-A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, come to Trenton for the first time of the season.
The "Curse of the Bambino", which the Red Sox overcame to win the 2004 World Series, stems from Babe Ruth being practically given to the Yankees by the Red Sox in 1920. Now in remembrance of the Babe, it will be the Thunder giving him away. The first 1,000 fans (age 5-15) will receive a #3 Yankee mesh replica jersey in honor of "The Bambino".
Festivities on "Reset the Curse Day" will include the great Babe Ruth in person to throw out a first pitch. He will also be available for photos on the concourse throughout the game. There will be a ground ball fielding contest in honor of one of the most memorable moments of the curse, Game #6 of the 1986 World Series, in which Bill Buckner made his historic error at first base. Any attempt at reinstating a curse needs help from the supernatural, so the team will hold a séance in which Yankees fans will be invited to join hands and conjure up the ghosts of baseball's past.
