Danville Dashers News Release
Danville Dashers' Fred Hein has been named as the Hustler Player of the Week following a stellar performance in the Dashers Saturday night home game against the Port Huron Prowlers in a battle of in-division rivals.
Hein scored the first goal, the last goal and even one more goal for the Dashers as they were able to pull off a 3-2 victory over the Prowlers on Veterans Night at the David S. Palmer Arena. Hein not only was able to score all three of the Dashers goals (thanks in part to two assists from defenseman Alex Pommerville and Nigel Slade, with Seth Ensor chipping in one as well), but was an active force on the night all night.
The most memorable moment for Hein came with just over four minutes left on the game clock when Hein completed his hat trick, firing home past Port Huron's goaltender Matt Stoia, and putting the Dashers in front for a lead they would hold on to, securing the victory at home.
Perhaps adding some extra fuel to the fire, of both Hein and those in attendance, was the fact that Hein had been the victim of a questionable hit just minutes earlier, and had been the victim and target (thanks to his elite scoring ability) of hard defense all evening.
That defense couldn't stop Hein and the Dashers on Saturday night, however, and they secured the victory on home ice.
Hein and the Dashers will take on the Mentor Ice Breakers at home on Friday and Saturday, with both games dropping their puck at 7:05pm CT. You can catch both games on the Danville Dashers Youtube channel. Nate Williamson (play by play) and Dennis Michelsen (color) will have the call.
