Heim Walks It off in Hounds Win

August 17, 2018 - Texas League (TL1)
Midland RockHounds News Release

Three players, each in his first Double-A season, helped lead the RockHounds to a 5-4, walk-off win over the Arkansas Travelers Friday night at Security Bank Ballpark.

Jonah Heim's line drive single to right-center scored Luis Barrera with the game-winning in the last of the ninth, after Barrera set the table with a "hustle double" toward the right field corner.

Heim and Barrera had virtually identical batting lines, each going of 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI. Skye Bolt had a pair of doubles, a run and a ribbie, helping the 'Hounds build early leads of 3-0 and 4-2.

All three have spent the majority of the season with Stockton of the (Advanced-A) California League, with Heim and Barrera both promoted to the RockHounds in mid-July. Bolt opened the season with the 'Hounds but struggled at the plate in 12 games. After a stint with the California League Ports, Skye returned in mid-June and has been outstanding, particularly in his last 18 games, a stretch in which he's hitting over .450 and averaging and RBI-per-game (see below).

Dario Pizzano led Arkansas with a two-run home run and an RBI double, a play on which the Travelers tied the game in the sixth inning.
