Heb and Silver Stars Team up for Back to School Supply Drive

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Silver Stars and HEB have joined together to tip-off the new school year for area youth with a back to school supply drive at all San Antonio area HEB stores July 20th through August 29th. Donated supplies will benefit San Antonio ISD, Harlandale ISD and Edgewood ISD.

Collection boxes will be at or near the entrance of each HEB store location in San Antonio and customers who purchase an HEB Bundle (HEB 5 pack Retractable Ballpoint Pens, HEB 4 pack Chisel Point Highlighters or HEB 4 pack Chisel Point Dry Erase Markers), will receive a coupon for a Buy One Ticket Get One Ticket Free Offer to the September 11 game vs. Connecticut or the September 13 matchup vs. Sacramento.

Additionally, Silver Stars players, Fox and Star Squad members will be on hand to sign autographs and give away prizes at events promoting this effort. As a part of the fun, there will be a free throw shooting competition at each event where a competitor 18 years and older may attempt to make as many free throws as possible in 30 seconds. The high score from each HEB event will have the opportunity to break Silver Stars guard Becky Hammon's world record for free throws made in 60 seconds (38 total) during a pre-game contest at the September 5 game vs. Los Angeles. The dates, times and locations for all six of the events are as follows:

o July 20 -- 1pm-3pm -- Tipoff Event; HEB SA #39 1150 N. Loop 1604 West at Blanco

o July 26 -- 2pm-4pm -- HEB SA - 11650 Bandera Road at160

o August 2 -- 2pm-4pm -- HEB SA -- 12777 IH-10 West at DeZavala

o August 9 -- 2pm-4pm -- HEB SA - 10718 Potranco Road

o August 16 -- 2pm-4pm -- HEB SA - 6818 S. Zarzamora

o August 23 -- 2pm-4pm -- HEB SA - 3524 S. New Braunfels at Fair Ave

On September 13, the Silver Stars will also host a Back to School Pep Rally at the new HEB McCreless Store, located at 4100 S. New Braunfels. Head Coach Dan Hughes and Silver Stars guard Shanna Crossley will be on hand to promote the importance of education and show support for the partnership between HEB and the Silver Stars.
