Stockton Heat News Release
Stockton, Calif. - The Heat got a pair of power-play goals and a terrific performance by Jon Gillies in his return to the Heat lineup, but a pair of special teams' goals by Milwaukee tied the game up and sent the game to a shootout where the Admirals would pick up the extra point in the 3-2 shootout win over Stockton. The Heat got on the board first at the tail end of the first period as Hunter Shinkaruk blasted a one-time on the power play past Milwaukee goalie Anders Lindback. The Admirals would repay the favor late in the second period as Mark McNeill's shot beat Jon Gillies on the short side to tie the game up heading into the third. The Heat regained the lead just 3:00 into the period as Oliver Kylington knocked one in off the left post and in for the Heat's second power-play goal of the night. The Heat would go back on the power play moments later, but this time it'd be the Admirals who would get one back as a turnover in the defensive zone resulted in a 2-on-0 break low on the goalie where McNeill's second of the night tied the game up. The Heat were in danger of letting their lead slip away moments later with a lengthy two-man-advantage surrendered to Milwaukee, but the Heat killed off the chance and saw the game eventually go to overtime and then to the shootout. In the shootout, the Heat failed to get one past Lindback while Milwaukee scored on their first two attempts to get their second win over the Heat this season, however, the Heat maintain their spot in the playoffs thanks to Texas' loss earlier in the evening, and the point they gained in the contest. Stockton's four-game homestand continues this weekend with a pair of games against the Tucson Roadrunners beginning on Friday at 7:00 p.m. for LEGO/STEM Night presented by Premier Community Credit Union and San Joaquin County Fairgrounds Night, where Bricks 4 Kids and the Children's Museum of Stockton will be out to the game to show kids how fun science, technology, engineering and math can be, along with a fundraiser for Friends of the Fair.
