Heat Sign Trio of Players

WINNIPEG MB - The Abbotsford Heat, the primary affiliate of the Calgary Flames (NHL), have today announced the signing of three players. Defenseman Russ Sinkewich has been signed to a Professional Tryout (PTO), while defenseman Josh Van Dyk and centre Justin Dowling have been signed to Amateur Tryout Contracts (ATO).

Sinkewich, 25, is from Westlake, OH and has played this season with the Alaska Aces of the ECHL. In 40 games this season, Sinkewich has scored two goals and added six assists for eight points. Sinkewich also has accumulated 46 penalty minutes, and a plus/minus rating of +18.

Van Dyk, 24, is from Woodstock, ON and has played the past four seasons at the University of Maine. This season, Van Dyk scored three goals and added fifteen assists for eighteen points in 36 games with 21 PIM.

Dowling, 20, is from Cochrane, AB and has played his last four seasons with the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL. This past season, Dowling scored 20 goals and 47 assists for 67 points in 63 games.

The Heat has also released goaltender Andy Neilsen from his Professional Tryout (PTO).

The Abbotsford Heat will now take to the road for their next four games beginning with a two game match up versus the Vancouver Canucks affiliate Manitoba Moose for a pair of key divisional games on Friday March 25th and Sunday the 27th. Catch all the action on Country 107.1 with Dave Sheldon getting the Diamond Bar Equipment pre game started at 5:15 PM... Puck drops at 5:30 PM.
