Harrisburg Heat News Release
Harrisburg, PA - The Harrisburg Heat announced on Monday that forward Gino DiFlorio has been placed on waivers. Major Indoor Soccer League teams will now have 72 hours to claim DiFlorio's rights; if he is not claimed by the end of that period, his rights will remain with Harrisburg.
DiFlorio, 38, returned to the Heat in a January 30 trade with the Baltimore Blast. He had scored 22 points in 16 games with Baltimore prior to the deal, and went scoreless in three games with the Heat. He remains the second all-time leading scorer in League history with 1,623 points, ranks sixth with 444 assists, and is second with 619 goals.
The only Heater in history to win the League's MVP award (following the 2000-01 season), DiFlorio holds Heat single-season records for points (214) and assists (72), both set in 1999-2000, and scored in 67 straight games from 3/25/99 thru 2/10/01.
The fourth-place Heat (12-19) will face the third-place Blast (12-17) this Saturday in a significant contest at 1st Mariner Arena. Kickoff is set for 7:35 p.m.
