Hayward To Host Lightning Tryout Camp

STOCKTON, Calif. -The Stockton Lightning of the arenafootball2 league have announced the team will hold an additional preseason player tryout camp for the upcoming 2007 af2 season, scheduled on Saturday, January 20th at Chabot College in Hayward, Calif.

The open workout sessions will be held at Chabot College's football stadium, toward the northwest end of Chabot College's campus, located at 25555 Hesperian Boulevard, Hayward, CA. Registration will begin for all participants at 10:00 a.m., with tryouts to follow at 11:00 a.m. A $40 fee (cash only) must be paid at time of registration.

Pre-registration is highly recommended. For information regarding pre-registration, please contact Head Coach Doug Murray at the Lightning offices at the above information.

Lightning head coach Doug Murray will be on hand to conduct workouts and evaluate players.

The tryout will be a "pro-style" combine including:
- 40 yard dash
- 3 cone "L" drill
- Bench press
- Vertical jump
- 20 yard shuttle

Selected players will be invited to stay after the tryouts for position specific, non-contact scrimmaging. Each individual participant is expected to wear appropriate workout clothing, and is responsible for supplying his own football cleats (suitable for natural grass surface).

Stockton opens the 2007 af2 season on Saturday, March 31 with a road matchup against the defending ArenaCup Champion Spokane Shock, beginning at 5:00 p.m. PT. The Lightning finished their inaugural 2006 arenafootball2 in fourth place in the National Conference's West Division and recently hired Murray as the second Head Coach in team history.

In their first season, the Lightning ranked third in af2 attendance with an average of 7,445 fans per home game. Season tickets for the 2007 Lightning regular season are on sale now.
