The last time the Haymakers and Defenders battled was in 2013. The Haymakers defeated the Defenders in a close game 46-40. While the Defenders are coming off a loss, the Haymakers are fresh and ready to go after the bye week. Coach Cory Ross commented about the bye week, "Coming off the bye week, we have some players coming back from some much needed rest. We as a staff are excited to have everybody healthy and back at 100 percent for a big game against the Oklahoma Defenders."

The Haymakers and Defenders are both 2-2 and are looking for a win to get into the playoff hunt. With four teams sitting at 2-2, if Lincoln can pull out a win this weekend they'd make a strong case to control their own playoff destiny.

The Haymakers are fired up after their historic win over the Omaha Beef two weeks ago. The Haymakers pounded the Beef in the in-state battle 59-20. Running Back Travis Ribbing and Wide Receiver Troy Brookins lead the offense in rushing and receiving. Ribbing had three touchdowns with 63 running yards while Brookins scored two touchdowns and finished the game with 70 receiving yards. Quarterback Chuck Wright completed four touchdown passes with 147 passing yards. A strong defensive performance also helped the Haymakers. John Banks and Tyler Burks lead the team with 8 tackles each. The defense also forced five interceptions against the Beef.

Coach Ross stated, "The Defenders have lost to the two teams we have lost to and they could have easily won both. Therefore, we have taken this game very seriously and will leave nothing back."

The match up will begin this Saturday April 5th at 7:05pm at the Pershing Center. Fans can receive $2.00 off a General Admission ticket just by donating a Canned Food Item at the Ticket Office.
