CPIFL Announces Players of the Week

April 2, 2014 - Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL) News Release


Lawrence, KS. - A record breaking night by the Omaha quarterback-receiver combo of Chris Coffin and Anthony Parks highlighted Week 5 action in the CPIFL. Coffin and Parks join Jecorey Quarterman and LaVaughn Macon as Players of the Week.

Offensive Players of the Week: Chris Coffin and Anthony Parks, Omaha Beef

Coffin burst back onto the scene in his first action of the year by blistering the Bloomington Edge defense for 303 passing yards and nine touchdown passes. Both represent league records. The Beef won the offensive affair by a score of 70-69. Coffin held the previous CPIFL record for passing touchdowns in a game as he threw for eight TD's vs. the Kansas Koyotes on May 25, 2013.

Parks was also playing in his first game of the year in Week 5 and accounted for eight receptions for 135 yards. He also set a league record for most TD receptions in a game with six and points scored in a game with 38. The Beef travel to Topeka to take on the Kansas Koyotes on Sunday.

Defensive Players of the Week: Jecorey Quarterman, Dodge City Law

Dodge City handed Salina their first loss of the season in a heart pounding 34-31 home win for the Law. Quarterman helped make the win possible by leading the team in tackles with seven and recording a sack in the second quarter which led to a missed Salina field goal which turned out to be the difference in the game. Dodge City visits Bloomington on Saturday.

Special Teams Player of the Week: LaVaughn Macon, Bloomington Edge

Macon showed off the skills that made him a star for the Edge last year as he returned ten kicks for a league record 219 yards. Macon held the previous record as he recorded 209 kick return yards vs. Sioux City on March 15, 2013. The Edge will look for their first win of the year as Dodge City travels to Bloomington on Saturday.

Week 6 of the CPIFL season features a full slate of games. The contests start on Saturday with Bloomington hosting Dodge City, Oklahoma traveling to Lincoln and Sioux City entertaining Wichita in a game of teams that qualified for the 2013 playoffs. The action concludes on Sunday with the Kansas Koyotes hosting the Omaha Beef.
