Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Two days after topping the Lincoln Stars 4-3 in overtime, the Waterloo Black Hawks came up on the short end of the same score under the same circumstances at home against the Indiana Ice.
Antti Roppo scored a game-tying goal at 16:14 of the third period, then notched the game-winner on the power play at 2:25 of overtime, redirecting a Justin Agosta shot from the line. Roppo's first goal came less than two minutes after J.T. Brown had given the Black Hawks their first lead of the evening, stealing a clearing attempt, then dancing through traffic to the Indiana net.
The Ice had the only goal in the opening period, a shorthanded effort by Nic Dowd at 12:56. The Hawks tied it on the power play 32 seconds into the middle period, courtesy of Brock Montpetit. Max Cook sent the Ice back in front at 2:41, but Brown's first goal of the game, after a successful penalty kill at 16:47, evened the action before intermission.
Waterloo host Team USA Friday at Young Arena beginning at 7:05. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive iWireless player cards.
