Boise Hawks News Release
BOISE, ID: The Boise Hawks are excited to announce 2022 Starting Pitcher Chase Costello has been signed by the Milwaukee Brewers organization. Costello, originally from Pompano Beach, FL, played his college baseball at Louisiana State University, St. Thomas University, and Stetson University. He joined the Boise Hawks during the 2022 season, appearing in six games, while starting five. He finished 2022 with a 3-2 record, striking out 20 batters in 30.1 innings. He was signed and scheduled to return to Boise in May for the 2023 season.
"We are excited for Chase and his opportunity to join the Milwaukee Brewers organization. I knew it was just a matter of time before a major league organization was going to give him a chance. He has tremendous upside and potential. There's a lot more in the tank for him to get better and fine tune his craft. It's great to see him get rewarded for all his hard work. It hasn't been a smooth journey but the adversity he has faced has prepared him for this opportunity. It was a pleasure working with him and we appreciate Chase giving us a chance to help him get ready for the next chapter in his professional career. We wish Chase and the Brewers all the best." - Gary Van Tol, Boise Hawks Manager / Director of Player Development
"This is an exciting day for Chase and the Brewers. Chase will be the sixth Boise Hawk to be signed by a Major League Baseball organization since we joined the Pioneer Baseball League two years ago. We'll be following Chase along with the Brewers and their great organization. "- Mike Van Hise, Boise Hawks Vice President / General Manager
Costello is the sixth Boise Hawks to be signed by a Major League Baseball organization since the start of the 2021 season joining Joshua Rivera (Kansas City Royals - 2021 season), Roby Enriquez (Arizona Diamondbacks - 2021 off-season), Myles Miller (Seattle Mariners - 2021 off-season), Anthony Walters (Colorado Rockies - 2022 pre-season), and Ryley Widell (Colorado Rockies - 2022 pre-season).
Costello will be joining the Brewers organization in Phoenix, AZ, reporting at spring training later this week.
