
Hawks end first half of season with 3-0 victory

EUGENE, Ore. - Tayler Scott and two relievers combined on a five-hit shutout, as the Boise Hawks ended the first half of the Northwest League season with a 3-0 victory over the Eugene Emeralds, before 2,931 fans at PK Park.
Scott tossed six innings of three-hit ball, walking just one man, fanning four, to pick up his second win. Hayden Simpson tossed two innings of two-hit relief, with Matt Iannazzo getting the final three outs for his first save.
The win for the Hawks ended a six-game road losing streak and a five-game overall losing skid.
The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on a Gioskar Amaya RBI infield single to score Trey Martin, who led the inning off with a double. Boise would push the lead to 3-0 in the fifth on a two-out, two-run double by Stephen Bruno.
Amaya went 3-for-4 and Bruno went 2-for-4 in the win for the Hawks, who finish the first half with a record of 13-25. Dane Phillips went 2-for-3 in the loss for the Ems.
Boise opens the second half tomorrow at home, hosting Yakima at 7:15 p.m., with Ian Dickson meeting Daniel Watts.
