Omaha Lancers News Release
Ralston, NE - The Lancers struck first, but an overtime goal by Kevin Charyszyn was the difference as the Black Hawks topped the Lancers 2-1 in overtime Friday night.
Greg Printz continued his point-streak to five-games with an assist on the lone goal. Omaha lost in overtime for the fourth time this season. Defenseman Will Scherer made his Lancer and USHL debut in the OT loss.
Omaha's power play got the scoring opened up in the first period. Looking back door, captain Filip Rydstrom sent the puck across the net mouth. Rydstrom banked the puck off the pads of Robbie Beydoun and into the back of the net giving the Lancers a 1-0 lead. Greg Printz picked up an assist on the play pushing his point streak to five-games.
In the second it was Waterloo's chance to get on the scoreboard via the power play. Emil Ohrvall corralled a rebound after it bounced wide of the Omaha cage. His shot trickled over the pads of Tommy Nappier and into the back of the net tying the game at 1-1.
Teams traded opportunities in the third but Robbie Beydoun and Tommy Nappier each answered the bell stopping every shot sent their way.
In the overtime period it was Kevin Charyszyn who sent the fans home just shy of a shootout. Charyszyn's ninth of the season came with only 0:30 separating the teams from the shootout.
Tommy Nappier made 27 saves on 29 shots, while Robbie Beydoun recorded the win making 21 saves on 22 shots.
Omaha faces Fargo tomorrow night at Ralston Arena. Puck drop is set for 7:05 pm.
