Havoc Win On Road, Split At Home

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc went on the road and claimed a 2-1 win in overtime at Knoxville Tuesday before splitting a two-game home series with Pensacola on Friday and Saturday.

Tuesday, November 17 - Huntsville 2, Knoxville 1 - OT

KNOXVILLE, TN - The Huntsville Havoc's Kyle McNeil scored 22 seconds into overtime to beat the Knoxville Ice Bears, 2-1 (OT).

McNeil had two goals to lead Huntsville to victory.

The Havoc average 31.4 shots on goal per game, but only sent 25 pucks on net against Knoxville.

More assists for Huntsville came via Nick Schneider, who had one and Dave Williams, who had two.

The Ice Bears' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Huntsville power plays. Knoxville was held below its usual level of production. The Ice Bears put an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game.

Knoxville was led by Zack LaRue, who scored the team's only goal. LaRue scored 11:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Knoxville. Corey Fulton provided the assist.

Jordan Ruby rejected 19 shots on goal for Huntsville. The Havoc incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Bryan Hince recorded 23 saves for the Ice Bears. Knoxville incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

Friday, November 20 - Pensacola 3, Huntsville 2

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Pensacola Ice Flyers gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Huntsville Havoc.

Pensacola gained the winning advantage on a goal by David Segal 9:01 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Ice Flyers were led by Segal, who racked up one goal.

Pensacola also got points from Nick McParland, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Joe Caveney, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Pensacola were John Clewlow and Paul Rodrigues, who each chipped in one.

Huntsville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Pensacola power plays.

The Havoc were led by Jason Popek, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Popek scored 17:28 into the second period to make the score 2-2. John Lidgett assisted on the tally. Huntsville also got a goal from Justin Tateson as well. More assists for Huntsville came via Brett Lutes and John McGinnis, who contributed one each.

Pensacola's Matt Zenzola stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Ice Flyers ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Kevin Genoe rejected 26 shots on goal for Huntsville. The Havoc totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.

Saturday, November 21 - Pensacola 2, Huntsville 3 - SO

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Jackson Brewer scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Huntsville Havoc picked up the extra point in a 3-2 (2-0 SO) win over the Pensacola Ice Flyers.

The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams. Huntsville's other shootout goal was scored by Brewer.

The Havoc came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Huntsville trailed 2-1 after a power play goal by Pensacola's Joe Caveney at 14:51 in the third period. The Havoc knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Nolan Kaiser at 16:31 in the third period.

The Ice Flyers' power play was ineffective against Huntsville's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Havoc were often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 36.0 minutes per game Huntsville had been spending in the box. The Havoc forced Pensacola goalie Matt Zenzola to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Huntsville was helped by Jeremy Beirnes, who racked up one goal. Beirnes scored 15:55 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Dave Williams picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Brewer, who had one.

The Ice Flyers' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 11 minors and one major for 47 minutes in penalty time. Pensacola surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. The Ice Flyers stifled the Havoc's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Pensacola was helped by Corey Banfield, who registered one goal. Banfield scored 8:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pensacola. Adam Pawlick assisted on the tally. More assists for Pensacola came via Jeremy Gates, who had one.

Kevin Genoe rejected 27 shots on goal for Huntsville. The Havoc registered zero goals on seven power play opportunities. Matt Zenzola made 30 saves for the Ice Flyers on 32 shots.
