HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc took a pair of home games this weekend with a 7-2 win over Peoria on Friday and a 5-2 win over defending SPHL champion Pensacola on Sunday.

Friday, November 8 - Peoria 2, Huntsville 7

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc were firing on all cylinders against the Peoria Rivermen, and when the final buzzer sounded Havoc emerged with a 7-2 win.

Huntsville's penalty kill excelled, as the Havoc gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

Huntsville was led by Josh Harris, who grabbed one goal. Harris scored on the power play 18:32 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Huntsville. The Havoc had taken the advantage when Peoria's Charlie Carkin got sent off for hooking. Justin Cseter picked up the assist.

The Huntsville penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and two majors for 28 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 20.0 minutes per game the Havoc had been spending in the box. Huntsville stifled the Rivermen's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Huntsville additionally got points from Rob Florentino, who also had one goal and three assists, Cseter, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Justin Fox, who also registered one goal and two assists. Stuart Stefan also scored for Huntsville. In addition, Huntsville received assists from Ray Ortiz, who had two, Mike Gurtler, who had four, and Leland Fidler and Matt Singleton, who each chipped in one.

Peoria forced the Havoc goalie Jesse Kallechy to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

The Rivermen were led by Parker Stanfield, who tallied one goal. Stanfield scored 17:54 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Huntsville. Garrett Vermeersch provided the assist. Peoria also got a goal from Ryan Raven as well.

Kallechy recorded 29 saves for Huntsville. The Havoc registered three goals on six power play opportunities. Eric Levine took the loss and made 14 saves before being replaced by Russ Stein who made four saves. Peoria ended with 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and two majors.

Sunday, November 10 - Pensacola 2, Huntsville 5

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the Pensacola Ice Flyers' power play opportunities and emerged with a 5-2 victory.

Huntsville was sparked by Stuart Stefan, who finished with one goal and one assist. Stefan scored on the power play 16:25 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Huntsville. A charging penalty on Pat Schafer had put the Havoc on the power play. Leland Fidler provided the assist.

The Huntsville penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and three majors for 37 minutes in penalty time. The Havoc had been averaging 20.0 minutes in penalties per game. Huntsville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances.

Huntsville also got points from Rob Florentino, who also had one goal and one assist and Justin Fox, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Nick Lazorko also scored for Huntsville. More assists for Huntsville came via Dominic Osman and Paul Kurceba, who each chipped in one and Justin Cseter and Ray Ortiz, who contributed two a piece.

Pensacola was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 22.0 minutes per game the Ice Flyers had been spending in the box. Pensacola failed to reach its usual level of shot production, putting 25 pucks on goal after averaging 33.4 shots per game this season.

The Ice Flyers were helped by Adam Pawlick, who registered one goal. Pawlick scored 3:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pensacola. Pensacola also got a goal from Donnie Harris as well. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Joshua Turnbull and Mark Thorburn, who each chipped in one.

Kevin Genoe recorded 23 saves for the Havoc. Huntsville registered one goal on four power play opportunities. The Havoc ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matt Singleton was ejected from the game. John Griggs made 22 saves for Pensacola on 26 shots.
