
Havoc struggles early, falls to Pee Dee

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Pee Dee Cyclones jumped out to a 2-0 lead on the Huntsville Havoc and never looked back on their way to a 6-4 win Wednesday night in front of 3,652 fans at the Von Braun Center.
Chris Affinati scored :24 into the game and Edan Welch added another goal two minutes later to give Pee Dee a 2-0 lead. Bill Monkman answered for the Havoc at the 8:28 mark cutting the score to 2-1.
Joel Petkoff gave the Cyclones a two goal lead with 7:29 left in the first period with a power play goal. Craig Bushey again cut the lead to one less than a minute later sending the Cyclones into the lockerroom with a 3-2 lead.
The Cyclones once again jumped out early in the second period on goals by Rob Kapuscinski and Shaun Aebig. Mike Degurse cut the lead to 5-3 when he found the back of the net and the Cyclones headed into the second intermission with a 5-3 lead.
James Patterson cut the lead to 5-4 with 8:42 left in the game before Jean-Francios Ricard scored an empty net goal with 1:03 left to seal the win.
Pee Dee was 1-of-2 on the power play while the Havoc failed to convert on five chances. Kevin Schieve stopped 42 shots in the win.
The Havoc will travel to Florida this weekend for games with the Florida Seals on Friday night and the Jacksonville Barracudas on Saturday night. Huntsville will host Pee Dee again next Thursday night at 7:05.
