Huntsville Havoc News Release

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Huntsville Havoc head coach, John Gibson, announced today that the team has signed goalie Matt Carmichael for the 2004-05 season.

Carmichael (5-10, 175) was named South East Hockey League Goalie of the Year and All-Star last season after helping lead the Huntsville Channel Cats to a 43-13 regular season record and a three-game sweep of the Knoxville Ice Bears in the Championship Series. He was also named MVP of the Championship Series.

"Signing Matt gives us the original three players back that helped spearhead the success that we had last season," Gibson said. "When you have Carmichael in net you know that you have a chance to win each game."

He led the league with a 2.74 goals against average and a 92.2 save percentage. He finished the season 32-12 and had three shutouts. He allowed 120 goals and made 1,414 saves. He won two playoff games after allowing only three goals and making 71 saves.

He has played in 131 career games and allowed 813 goals and has 7,132 saves. He has played 14,215 minutes and has a 110-105-16 record and nine shutouts. His career goals-against-average is 3.43 and his save percentage is 89.7. He has also played in 115 career junior games.

Gibson also announced that the Havoc have signed former UAH goalie, Adam MacLean.

MacLean (5-11, 170) played in 41 games for the Chargers from 2000-2004 and allowed 106 goals and made 899 saves. He had a 14-16-4 career record, a 3.14 goals against average and a 89.4 save percentage. He is originally from Woodstock, Ontario. He joined the Huntsville Channel Cats last season for the first playoff game as the emergency goalie when Carmichael went home to attend the funeral of his grandmother.
