Havoc Picks Up Three Points Over Weekend

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc went 1-1-1 over the three-games weekend with a win over Knoxville on Thursday before dropping a decision at Columbus Friday night and losing in overtime on Saturday night.

Thursday, February 12 (vs Knoxville) - Travis Kauffeldt and Ray Ortiz both scored a goal and recorded an assist as the Huntsville Havoc doubled up the Knoxville Ice Bears 4-2 Thursday night.

The Havoc held a 2-0 lead at the first intermission thanks to goals by Steve Cooke and Kauffeldt.

Knoxville cut the lead to 2-1 in the second period when Tim Vitek scored on the powerplay. Tristan Lush answered four minutes later to extend the lead to 3-1 heading into the final period.

Frank Furdero midway through the third. Ray Ortiz would finish it off with a powerplay goal with 6:57 left in the game.

Paul Falco finished with two assists for the Havoc while Karlis Zirnis, Bill McCreary and Jeff Genovy all had one assist each.

Tim Haun made 18 saves in the win as the Havoc outshot the Ice Bears 40-20. Andrew Gallant made 36 saves in the loss.

Friday, February 13 (at Columbus) - The Huntsville Havoc were just 1-of-9 on the powerplay as they fell 4-2 to the Columbus Cottonmouths Friday night.

The Cottonmouths had a 2-0 lead late in the first period on goals by Kyle Lundale and Sam Bowles. Justin Rohr, who just signed a three-game tryout for the Havoc, scored with :31 left in the period to cut the lead to 2-1.

Columbus extended the lead to 3-1 midway in the scond when Orrin Hergott scored. Karlis Zirnis would cut it to 3-2 on a powerplay goal with 8:39 left in the period. Michael George pushed it back to a two-game lead less than a minute later. Neither team would score in the final period.

Ian Vigier made 36 saves in the win while Tim Haun made 18 in the loss. The Havoc outshot Columbus 38-22.

Saturday, February 14 (vs Columbus) - Lorne Misita scored with 1:28 left in overtime giving the Columbus Cottonmouths a 3-2 win over the Huntsville Havoc Saturday night.

Sam Bowles had given the Cottonmouths a 2-0 lead with goals in the first period and second periods. Travis Kauffeldt and Ray Ortiz added goals for Huntsville in the second to send the game into the third period tied at 2-2.

Ian Vigier made 30 saves in the win while Tim Haun made 26 in the loss.
