Havoc Advances To Finals

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc swept the Knoxville Ice Bears 2-0 in the second round of the SPHL Playoffs and advanced to the finals for the first time in team history.

The Havoc will face-off against the Mississippi Surge in a best-of-five series beginning Wednesday night in Biloxi. Game two is set for Thursday night in Biloxi. The Havoc will host game three on Saturday, April 17 at the VBC and game four, if necessary, will be in Huntsville on Tuesday, April 20. Game five, if necessary, will be back in Biloxi on Thursday, April 22.

Wednesday, April 7 - GAME ONE - Knoxville 1, Huntsville 5

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc scored every way possible except for an empty net goal Wednesday night on their way to a 5-1 win over the Knoxville Ice Bears and 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series.

Vladimir Hartinger scored on the powerplay with 15:47 left in the first period and Andrew Schembri scored an even strength goal 1:10 later and the Havoc held a 2-0 lead after one period.

Schrembi added a goal with 2:30 left in the second with an extra attacker.

Ray Ortiz would score a penalty shot goal with 16:14 left in the third period before Mike MacDonald scored a short-handed goal with 15:47 to go in the game.

Kyle Bochek scored a powerplay goal with 14:27 left in the game for the only Ice Bears goal of the game.

Dan McWhinney made 28 saves in the win while Andrew Gallant made 28 in the loss.

Friday, April 9 - GAME TWO - Huntsville 3, Knoxville 1

KNOXVILLE, TN - Travis Kauffeldt scored two goals and the Huntsville Havoc knocked out the Knoxville Ice Bears with a 3-1 win Friday night.

Mike MacDonald added a goal and an assist for the Havoc. Dean Petiot and Bill McCreary also had one assist each.

B.J. Pelkey scored the only goal for the Ice Bears.

Dan McWhinney made 36 saves in the win while Andrew Gallant made 34 in the loss.
