Ben Zloty scored what proved to be the game winning goal 4:33 into the first period as the Winnipeg ICE shut out the Calgary Hitmen 2-0 Tuesday night.
Tanner Brown also scored as the ICE improved their record to 37-9-3-2. With 79 points. Winnipeg clinches a playoff berth into the Eastern Conference post season.
Daniel Hauser earned his fourth shut out making 14 saves.
Brayden Peters stopped 35 of 37 shots as the Hitmen have now lost three straight games heading into Brandon tomorrow.
Jack Finley and Mikey Milne each led the ICE with eight shots on goal.
The ICE return to action Friday in Brandon to open a home and home series against the Wheat Kings in the latest chapter of the Battle of Manitoba presented by Taylor McCaffery Lawyers.
The two teams return to the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena Saturday night at 7:00.
