New Mexico Scorpions News Release

RIO RANCHO, N.M.-Scorpions captain Vladimir Hartinger has been named the Oakley CHL Player of the Week. It is the first time this season Hartinger has won the award and the second Scorpion to garner the honor.

Hartinger helped lead the Scorpions to two wins in Arizona this past week. The defenseman scored 10 points (5G, 5A), including his first career hat trick on Wednesday night in New Mexico 's 6-4 victory.

On Wednesday and Saturday, Hartinger had four points in each game, setting a new career high. The Czech Republic native, who now resides in Albuquerque, currently leads all league defenseman with 50 points (17G, 33A).

"Vladi has been a true captain for us all season," said head coach Randy Murphy. "This week he just happened to get a lot of offense added to his great defense and leadership."

The 10 point week also moved Hartinger into the Scorpions record book. His 134 career points in five seasons with the Scorps, is most by a New Mexico defenseman.

"It is an honor for me to be named player of the week and have the Scorpions' record for defenseman points," said Hartinger. "The important thing is we won two games this past week and continue to go after a division title."
