Bucks, Hillside Nursery Unveil Bes Action Figure

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League, in conjunction with Hillside Nursery, unveiled the new limited edition (1,000 made) Jeff Bes action figure today at a press conference at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Local media and fans attended the event.
Starting Tuesday (February 26) a limited number of action figures will be on sale at Hillside Nursery, located at 4651 Casa Blanca Road. On Friday night a limited amount of action figures will be on sale at the LEC when the Bucks take on the Texas Brahmas. After Friday's game Bes will be on hand to sign the action figure boxes (limit autograph per person).
For $15, fans will receive ONE (1) Jeff Bes Action Figurine AND a card to redeem at Hillside Nursery for ONE (1) FREE 5-gallon plant. Fans can choose between 2 of Jeff Bes' favorite plants for their free plant.
All profits from the sales will go to Laredo Youth Hockey Association (Junior Bucks). Payment is accepted by CASH OR CHECK only. Please make checks out to "Hillside Nursery."
The figure of Bes was made by Global Alexander Promotions, based out of Bellevue, Washington. The figure is a replica of Bes skating in a game, wearing the Bucks white jersey (#11), complete with an insignia autograph. They are individually numbered (1 to 1,000).
"I would like to thank Hillside Nursery for this, it's a great honor", Bes said. "I also want to thank the city of Laredo for always supporting us."
Bes, the franchises all-time leading scorer, is in his fifth year with the Bucks, and was a key member of Laredo's 2004 and 2006 President's Cup Championship teams, winning the Finals MVP in '06. Bes is the team's all time leader in goals (159), assists (273), and points (473). Bes was the regular season MVP in 2003-04 when he put up a franchise record 117 points (39-78=117).
Bes is leading the CHL in scoring with 88 points (39-49=88), three points ahead of Arizona's Alex Leavitt (28-57=85). With his next goal scored Bes will set a new career high for goals scored in a season with 40, and he will join former linemate Chris Grenville as the only Bucks players to ever score 40 goals in a season (Grenville scored 45 in 03-04, and 40 in 02-03).
Not only is Bes a key factor on the Ice for the Bucks, he is highly visible in the Laredo community as well, having participated in many school and hospital visits, as well as civic organizations throughout Laredo and the surrounding communities.
"Jeff should realize how big of an honor this is, not every guy has an action figure of himself", said Bucks head coach/GM Terry Ruskowski. "Jeff is a big part of our team, and the Laredo community".
Bes joins Steve Simoes as the only two Bucks players to have their own action figure.
Hillside Nursery is located at 4651 Casa Blanca Road.
The Bucks start a five-game home stand Wednesday when they host the Corpus Christi Rayz on Reliant Energy Night. The first 2,500 fans will receive hand clappers courtesy of Reliant Energy.

*Bucks To Be At Wendy's Tuesday Morning*
The Bucks will be appearing at Wendy's at 1212 Del Mar Blvd Tuesday morning from 8:30-9am. Wendy's is hosting a free breakfast from 6-10am at that location, where customers can choose from any breakfast combo and pay nothing.
*Texas Lottery Night Friday*
The Bucks will host Texas Lottery Night when they host the Texas Brahmas on February 29th at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Game time is set for 7:30pm. Group tickets are available starting at $10, with individual tickets starting at $12.75. Call 718-BUCK (2825) to order yours today.
