Hartford Falls to NYRB2 After Controversial Decision Puts the Club Down Two Men
August 10, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Hartford Athletic News Release
Hartford Athletic suffered a 5-1 loss to New York Red Bulls 2 in front of 4,262 fans at Dillon Stadium.
Hartford drew first blood on a rocket from Sebastian Dalgaard in the 31st minute to put the Boys in Green up 1-0. Athletic carried the 1-0 lead into halftime in a back and forth first half.
The match changed course in the 53rd minute after the referee called Hartford Defender Alex Davey for a take down in the box. The referee subsequently made two harsh decisions -- issuing a red card to both Davey for the foul and fellow Athletic Defender Raymond Lee for dissent. Up two men for the remaining nearly 40 minutes of the match -- New York went on to slot 5 goals from Elney (64'), Nealis (75'), Bezecourt (81'), Stroud (82'), and Loebe (90' +2).
Hartford Athletic will be back in action on Saturday August 17th at 5 PM at Dillon Stadium for a special international match against the national team of Puerto Rico. Tickets start at just $10 and a portion of match proceeds will benefit hurricane relief. Click here to purchase tickets to the match.
