Hartford Athletic Sign Striker Mamadou Dieng
February 13, 2024 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Hartford Athletic News Release
Hartford Athletic have signed Senegalese striker Mamadou Dieng to a long-term contract ahead of the 2024 season, pending league and federation approval.
Dieng comes to Hartford after spending the 2023 season with Elite Falcons FC of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Football Association, where he played with fellow Hartford Athletic teammate Pele Ousmanou. The 19 year old spent most of his youth career playing in Germany, coming up through Brinkumer SV's Academy, then playing professionally for five different teams in Germany's Bremen-Liga.
"We are thrilled that we found Mamadou, another promising young player to bring to Hartford," said Head Coach and General Manager Brendan Burke. "Mamadou is a big and very energetic forward who is willing to defend from the front, stretch the last line and compete in the air. He has great potential and we can't wait to integrate him with Romario [Williams], which we think will accelerate his development."
