Hartford Athletic News Release
Adding to the fun around the final home match of the 2023 season, Hartford Athletic is introducing their first ever end-of-season "Jerseys off our Back" auction as part of Fan Appreciation Night on Friday, October 13th. The auction begins today and will run through the 60th minute of the match next Friday, October 13th and will allow fans to bid on match used, player signed jerseys with net proceeds benefiting the Green and Blue Foundation.
Winning bidders will be notified via email, and those that attend the match will have the chance to have their jersey hand-delivered on-field to them by the respective player straight off their back on the pitch after the final whistle. Winning bidders who do not attend the match will still receive their jersey via delivery or coordinated pickup.
All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Green & Blue Foundation. The 501(c)(3) organization has been a part of Hartford Athletic since 2020, and strives to enhance the quality of life for youth and disadvantaged people in Connecticut. The foundation has made an impact through its launch and support of community programs and initiatives including the Hartford Athletic Hiring Expo, STEM and Soccer Education Day, the club's annual Match for a Cause, the Changemakers Program, the Community Ticket Program and many more.
Fan Appreciation Night will also feature the fan favorite $2 Beer, $1 Hot Dog promotion as well as merchandise discounts and more.
The home jersey, named "The Capitol Kit," was inspired by the designs seen in the city's historic state capitol building. The green body of the jersey is lined with a dotted spiral pattern that circles around the shirt, which mirrors the pattern that fills up the inside of the capitol building's gold leaf dome. The Hartford Athletic club crest is circled by an eight-point star, replicating the star that shines in the middle of the gold leaf dome as well. The blue color in the waist of the jersey has a wave-like shape that represents the Connecticut River, and the pattern within it mirrors the wallpaper seen throughout the interior of the capitol building. The back plate of the jersey features the Connecticut state flag, and the inside of the neck features the state motto: "Qui Transtulit Sustinet," (He Who Transplanted Still Sustains).
