Harrisburg Heat News Release
HEAT RETURNING TO THE LARGE ARENA
HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 27, 2014 - Before taking on the undefeated and league-leading Chicago Mustangs over the weekend, the Harrisburg Heat announced they were moving out of the State Farm Show's Equine Arena and relocating down the hall next season to the complex's Large Arena.
The Heat, whose original franchise played in the 7,300-seat Large Arena from 1991-2003, had played in the 2,000- seat Equine Arena since returning to pro indoor soccer and joining the Professional Arena Soccer League in 2012.
The Heat fell short in ending their stay at the Equine Arena on a high note, losing twice to 12-0 Chicago in back-to- back games Friday and Saturday. The losses dropped the Heat to 4-9 with three road games remaining in the regular season - Feb. 8 at Illinois, Feb. 9 at Chicago and Feb. 16 at Dallas.
The Heat enter the final stretch of their season trailing the Cincinnati Saints (4-8) by one-half game for the fourth and final playoff spot in the PASL's Eastern Division. Like the Heat, the Saints' final schedule includes road games at Illinois and Chicago, as well as another trip to Cleveland and a home match against Detroit.
PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE
The Heat will hold training sessions this week Tuesday night and Sunday morning. The Tuesday session will run from 9:30-11:30 p.m. at Sports City Harrisburg. The Sunday session is tentatively scheduled from 9-11 a.m. at Sports City.
JERSEY AUCTION
The Heat's 2nd annual jersey auction following Saturday's home finale raised $2,500 for PinnacleHealth Children's Resource Center. At $400, the jersey of forward Chris Hall topped the list of 21 jerseys auctioned off, followed by those of defender Val Teixeira ($275) and forward Tom Mellor ($250). In two seasons, the Heat's jersey auctions have raised $9,530 for charity.
NUMBER CRUNCHING
Kenneth Fultz, the second-year forward out of Central Dauphin High School and Slippery Rock University, continues to make the most of his opportunities with a team-high 19 goals on just 37 shots.
