Harrisburg Heat News Release

HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 18, 2013 - The Harrisburg Heat fell in their home opener 8-5 to the Detroit Waza on Saturday at the Equine Arena in the State Farm Show Complex & Expo Center.

Kenneth Fultz, a second-year midfielder out of Central Dauphin High School, posted a career-high three goals for the Heat (1-2), who have lost two straight games after opening the season Nov. 9 with an 8-7 overtime victory in Detroit.

Fultz has three goals and an assist in three games this season after totaling just two goals and an assist in 11 games as a rookie.

The Waza (1-1) finished Saturday's game with 17 blocked shots. The 17 blocks also were the most against the Heat in their season-plus in the Professional Arena Soccer League, and came just a week after the Waza recorded zero blocks in losing to the Heat at Detroit.

Fultz's three-goal game was the Heat's second of the season (forward Mitchell Walters had three in the season opener). Last season, the Heat had players with three or more goals in a game six times in 16 games.

The Heat's next game comes this Saturday, Nov. 23, against the expansion Cleveland Freeze (2-1) at the Equine Arena.

REMEMBER ME?

Allen Eller, a forward with the original Heat, leads the first-year Freeze with 13 points on nine goals and four assists. Four of those goals came Nov. 10 in an 11-3 victory over the Heat in Cleveland.

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

The Heat will hold training sessions this week from 9-11 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday at Sports City Harrisburg, 4141 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg. As always, the sessions are open to the media with head coach Richard Chinapoo and the players available for interviews before and after the sessions.

ON THE MEND

First-year captain and midfielder David Schofield is expected to return to practice Tuesday night after leaving Saturday's game midway through the first quarter with an apparent head injury. The midfielder from Preston, England, has two goals and two assists in two-plus games this season.

SAY NOW YOU'RE AN ALL-STAR

Saturday's match against Cleveland also features a celebrity halftime game that will include Tanya Foster and Jason Bristol of CBS 21; Chris Garrett of Fox 43's morning show; Chris Andree of The River 97.3 FM; and a pair of ringers in Lebanon Valley College women's soccer coach Lauren Salerno and original Heat coach Jim Pollihan.
