Harrisburg Heat Sign Teixeira, Tyrrell

HARRISBURG, PA, Oct. 17, 2013 - Forward Val Teixeira and defender Craig Tyrrell have agreed to new contracts with the Harrisburg Heat for the 2013-14 season, the team announced today.
The additions of Teixeira and Tyrrell bring to 10 the number of players under contract for the Heat, who begin their second season in the Professional Arena Soccer League on Nov. 9 at Detroit.
Terms of the contracts were not announced.
Teixeira, 37, of Lisbon, Portugal, joined the Heat late last season, playing in only five games but totaling seven points on four goals and three assists. His 1.4 points-per-game average last season was the fifth-best mark on the team, trailing only Tom Mellor (2.5), Brian Ombiji (2.1), Tyler Witmer (1.9) and David Schofield (1.43).
Mellor and Witmer already are under contract with the Heat for the 2013-14 season.
Tyrrell, 41, of St. Kitts in the West Indies, played in 10 of the Heat's 16 games last season, scoring one goal on the four shots he took on goal.
GOING CAMPING: The Heat open training camp on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at Sports City Harrisburg, 4141 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg. Please note the sessions will run from 9-11 p.m. - not from 7-9, as previously announced. Sessions will be held on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Media are invited to attend.

FREE TICKETS: The Red & Black intrasquad game on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Sports City Harrisburg is free to the public. First-come, first-serve seats are limited to 400. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Season ticket holders may enter at 5:30 p.m. for a special pregame presentation.
