Berkshire Black Bears News Release
PITTSFIELD- The Berkshire Black Bears announced today the signing of right-handed pitcher Tony Harden. A graduate of Indiana State University, Tony is no stranger to independent league baseball. He spent four seasons from 1998-2001 in the Frontier League with the Richmond Roosters and Springfield Capitals, winning 25 games. He led the league with a 2.36 ERA in 1998 to go along with a 10-1 record.
Tony spent 2002 with Yuba-Sutter in the Western League and receives accolades from Black Bears manager Darren Bush. "He is a power pitcher who shows no fear out on the mound", says Bush. Bush likens Harden's competitive nature on the field to that of a "tenacious bulldog" and emphasizes his desire to go 9 innings every start.
The Berkshire Black Bears begin their second season at Wahconah Park on June 2 against the Quebec Les Capitales. Season and individual game tickets are now on sale by calling the Berkshire Black Bears office at (413) 448-2255.
