VICTORIA, BC -- The Victoria HarbourCats and Walla Walla Sweets tried -- and only got a half inning in, attempting to complete the three-game series.

It was a Walla Walla of water that halted the game, and didn't let up.

Like Friday, Mother Nature said no, giving the HarbourCats their second rainout in franchise history -- both in the span of three days.

The HarbourCats, now 20-21 on the season and two games out of the wild card spot, will have Monday off but then welcome the Cowlitz Black Bears on Tuesday night, Wednesday night and Thursday's 1pm game, the last day game of the season.

Nine busloads of cadets and their Band helped the crowd get ready for the highly-anticipated game with Uptown Funk before the national anthems. Ceremonial first pitches by usedvictoria.com and their Paint the Park Purple event, cadets and Big Brother Canada castmates Naeha Sareen and Sindy-with-an-S got a big cheer from the crowd.

A hot dog eating contest with Maple Leaf Meats during the rain delay had people cheering on the three contestants, and Sindy and Naeha signed autographs. Atsuya Muranaka won the hot dog eating contest -- a Japanese exchange student.

Given the late stage of the season, with 12 games on the schedule after today, it is unlikely the game will not be replayed.

The HarbourCats are home Tuesday night, Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon, with the Cowlitz Black Bears in Victoria. The field will be perfectly dried out by then.
